'Venom 3' Gets Title, Pushes Release to October

The latest episode in Columbia Pictures' Venom franchise, starring Tom Hardy, now has an official title and an early release date.

Sony announced Tuesday that director Kelly Marcel's Venom: The Last Dance would open in theaters on October 25.

The picture, starring Hardy, Juno Temple, and Chiwetel Ejiofor, was previously nameless and will be released two weeks earlier than its original November 8 date.

Marcel not only directed the film, but she also wrote the script, which was ascribed to herself and Hardy.

Hardy, Marcel, Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, and Hutch Parker serve as producers.

Hardy reprises his role as the Marvel adversary introduced in Ruben Fleischer's 2018 film Venom.

Andy Serkis took over directing duties for the 2021 sequel Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

Marcel is making her directing debut after scripting for two previous films.

This will be the third Venom feature to hit theaters in October, and the pre-Halloween period has worked well for the franchise.

The original film grossed more than $850 million worldwide, while the sequel earned more than $500 million.
