'Power Book II: Ghost' Will End With Season 4

Fans of the Power franchise are losing Ghost again, but this time it's the entire series.

Starz has canceled Power Book II: Ghost, with the fourth season serving as the finale.

It will be divided into two parts, premiering on June 7 and September 6. Watch the teaser above.

Starz CEO Jeffrey Hirsch announced the change this week, stating that he intends to reduce content expenses by generating more new shows rather than extending series as they get more expensive.

Using the Power franchise as an example, he stated: "You look at the [Power] map and say, 'OK

if I take one of those characters and spin one of those out, I can bring that on to replace the Power show at half the cost.'"

Now I'm putting a lot of money directly to the bottom line.

And I'm not losing anything in terms of acquisition expenses or subscriber viewership, since we know what those demos want.

And we know how to set them up. And so that's really the foundation of getting to that 20% [margin]: starting afresh with new content to drive the business."
