Kenny Chesney recalls ‘crazy dream’ of started rum company: ‘We started over’

"When the Sun Goes Down" is exactly what Kenny Chesney does, and he's bringing a bottle of his own Blue Chair Bay Rum with him.

A limited-edition 16-year-old rum from the U.S. Virgin Islands was issued by the country music superstar in honor of National Rum Day and to acknowledge his company reaching the decade-mark.

Ten years ago, Chesney said exclusively to FOX Business, entering the spirits industry was a "crazy dream, and we made it not only work, but also successfully."

Being the brand's creator and exclusive owner, he has experienced the highs and lows of seeing his modest concept grow into a significant company with over 200,000 cases sold annually and 11 distinct flavor expressions.

"Like Old Dominion’s song, everything’s 'Easier Said with Rum.' Wherever I am, whomever I’m with, we’ve got a little bit of this special 10th anniversary rum, which is currently being bottled," Chesney stated.

"I think we may have a few drinks too many. However, since I'm camped out, we won't be traveling."

Everywhere and whenever he gets the chance, the singer of "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems" conjures up island feelings.

In fact, the inspiration for Blue Chair Bay Rum struck him while he was sailing around the Caribbean.
