Slow Cooker Meatballs in Tomato Sauce

This simple slow cooker meatball recipe is made using a combination of Italian turkey sausage and beef, resulting in a less heavy yet still delicious and juicy meatball. Ideal for a weekday supper at a tailgating party served with toothpicks or over spaghetti!

Juicy and delicious are the two things that meatballs should be. Both requirements are met by this dish, and the greatest thing is that it can be prepared in a slow cooker.

About 35 to 40 meatballs the size of golf balls should be obtained. This is the ideal portion size to feed a crowd for Sunday supper, serve over pasta for a weeknight supper (and save some for later), or leave it out as a party snack (football season anyone?).

Basic pantry items like canned crushed tomatoes are used to make the sauce, which is slightly hottened with a dash of crushed red pepper. For my eight and ten-year-old children, it wasn’t very hot. Of course, you can always leave it out if you don’t want to lead a spicy existence.
